At QuitItBuddy, I believe your recovery journey is personal. That's why I've built the app to be privacy-first by default.
1. Local-First Data Storage
By default, all your user data—including your habits, journal entries, cravings, and financial stats—is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. I do not upload your Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or telemetry data to external servers unless you explicitly enable cloud backups.
2. Optional Cloud Sync
If you choose to enable cloud sync, your data will be securely backed up. All server interactions (including feedback relay and optional sync) use secured service keys and row-level security (RLS) protected tables.
3. Community Analytics & Feedback
To provide features like Community Benchmarks and to help improve the app, limited, anonymized statistics are collected using secure, serverless cloud functions.
- How: This data is securely transmitted using encrypted edge functions.
- What: Only aggregated, anonymous metrics are collected (such as average streak lengths, common relapse triggers, and total time saved). I do not collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII), device IDs, or your detailed individual logs. Any direct feedback you submit through the app is also handled securely through this infrastructure.
- Why: This data generates global benchmarks so you can compare your progress against the broader community, and it helps me understand which features are most effective for recovery.
4. What I Do Not Collect
- I do not track your location.
- I do not sell your data to third-party advertisers.
- I do not share your health data with anyone.
5. Your Control
You remain completely in control of your data. Opt-in features are clearly marked and reversible. You can export or delete your local data at any time from within the app settings.
